Retro Kicks
Fashion is currently in thrall to retro – inspired sneakers, and its fascination with footwear from decades past takes off at a quicker pace this season. Summer 2025’s iterations featured slender sneakers crafted from suede and natural colourways reminiscent of the 1970s.
Sneakerina (Sneaker Ballet Flats)
The sneaker and ballet flat hybrid lend a touch of femininity to the casual sneaker. The sneakerina’s rise to prominence is the latest example of the so-called “ugly shoe” trend - following the footsteps of Crocs, Birkenstock Boston, and Maison Margiela’s split-toe Tabi and those aforementioned ballet flats.
Flat Sandals
Flat sandals for the season are a given – but they take on a more lively look this Spring/Summer, with thicker, asymmetric straps, multi-coloured bead embellishments, and cutouts. The perfect finishing touch for dresses, trousers, shorts, or skirts – the beach and beyond.
Loafers
Though different in their construction, many new “soft loafer” styles riff on signature details you’d find on a regular loafer, like a penny saddle on the vamp and accent stitching, while others amp up the comfort factor with extremely flat soles.
