Building your own layered jewellery look is simpler than you think. Here’s how in three easy steps.

Start with a classic base piece, such as a wide chain link necklace, that sits around your collarbone. This piece will act as an anchor for the rest of your layers.
Add a second chain which is slightly longer than your first one, and offers something different — perhaps it’s punctuated with a small initialled pendant, an interesting textured chain, or a contrast of mixed metals.
Here’s when your focal point — your medallion necklace — comes into play. It should hang the lowest out of the three necklaces. You want to make sure it’s layered in a way that allows the pendant to be fully expressed, and not hidden away by your other necklaces.
