Anyone else noticing a chain reaction in fashion?

This season, designers are toughening up their collections – chunky links and hardware are cropping up all over spring’s shoes, handbags and accessories.

Naturally, the trend lends itself exceptionally well to jewellery. Cue oversized links on earrings, bracelets and necklaces – the latter seen all over the runway, styled close to the neck, choker-like.

And while we’re happy to adorn ourselves with heavy jewellery, the metal detailing coming into focus within the shoe and handbag sphere feels exciting, too, juxtaposing high fashion designs with a little grit. From petite, ladylike bags punctuated with thick chains to delicate stiletto heels finished with mixed metal straps, the results take humble hardware to highly desirable new heights.
